This book was pretty good. I haven’t read a great deal by this author but thought that I would give this a try. The writing and editing were both very well done. I absolutely loved Chase and could relate more to him than to Cubby. I guess that I just didn’t care much for him but to each their own I guess. Still, this was a decent read and I’m sure that I’ll try something by this author again. The following is my favorite quote from the book:“Lots of people find a label that works for them and never think twice about it, but it’s common to have your desires and sense of yourself change over time too.” This was a cute, fluffy, relatively low angst book about a city slicker aspiring vlogger who meets a small town mountain man while spending his summer in Lake Steamy. From the start Cubby grabs Chase's attention with his tenacious personality and bright smiles. I loved how even though Chase has never been interested in a man before, he doesn't have some big freak out. His best friend is gay and he goes to him for genuine advice, but that's about the extent of his questioning. He likes Cubby so he's going to see where it leads him.Cubby frustrated me a bit. He was so adamant that this summer was to be where he launched into success and that no distractions were allowed, yet he had plenty of time to distract himself in bed with Chase knowing Chase wasn't one for casual and had never been with a man before. Cubby was totally up front with him, I'll give him that, but at the same time he should have known telling Chase they could never be together for real would hurt him. I wanted to snuggle poor Chase in blanket. Here he is having real feelings for someone for the first time in a very long time and he's told how wonderful he is, but that isn't enough for Cubby to be with him for more than s*x. I just felt bad.Thankfully this book has a happy ending, which is the reason we all read romance right? I love the guaranteed HEA that comes with a love story. This one even has an epilogue 1 year into the future and it's the cutest thing. Chase may be shy, but he's also the sweetest thing ever and he never fails to make Cubby feel cherished. That ladies, gentlemen, and NB folks is what it's really all about.
